Chimes!
Today was a special choir class for Grades 1 - 6 as we enjoyed a chimes class.
I could hear chimes ringing through the school all day :)
And watching the class just affirmed to me how I could not have ever taught a class like this. If you watched that video above you know what I'm talking about. How does one know when which chime is supposed to play when?? Music smarts eh?
Grade Three and Four:
Chime classes (with extra rhythm instruments) are organized only infrequently because of the amount of time the set-up takes from choir. It can also tend toward chaos & cacophony - luv that word! BUT - with no formal Christmas program to prepare for, it was as good a time as any to experiment with the students and see how well they could 'handle' it. As per usual, they totally wowed me with their abilities and concentration and I'm thinking that should be rewarded with a few more sessions in the near future. I had a great time with them all!

This week in choir I shamelessly promoted a new album by Carolyn Arends entitled Love Was Here First. Those who know me well, (and I'm assuming that CCS students & staff do!:) know that I am a HUGE fan of her thoughtful and unique style of songwriting. This album is her 10th I believe and purported to be her strongest writing yet. The bonus is, with this post you get to listen to it yourself before running out to buy your own copy! Just click on the album title and you're in business!
(My two favourites? Track 5 I Am A Soul and Track 6 Willing)

combo choir!
Today we had half the school in class! Since Grade 3/4 missed their choir time due to our visit to the cenotaph they joined Grade 1 / 2 for the class. It was nice for me to be "reunited" however briefly with my last couple of classes.
And it's fun to listen to them sing!

Back to Class
Choir class!
We shall see if any pictures of our choir teacher remain up here since she's an administrator on this blog ;)
You can also tell which teacher hauls her camera into class regularly because she's got two blogs to fill up with pictures!
So here are some pictures of the Grade One / Two class and the Grade Three / Four class in action.
Warming up for class with enthusiasm!
I have to say these kids can sing. Grade One and Two and they're tackling a round!

Some stuff to look at
Hmm, it's been a while since anything's been posted here. Let me look through the reams of material on my home and school computers for things to add.
Here's one!

A Sincere Thank You!
I just need to say this before I crawl into bed...
I belong to an absolutely amazing school community and am constantly humbled by the level of support and love I feel from you all.
The students of CCS get a huge thumbs up from me despite having to 'put it all together' on the Friday nite of the first week of school at 10:00 p.m.
10 o'clock in the evening! ..... Wow. It could even be called cruel :)
Seriously, you all deserve gold medals.
Parents? I really do admire your willingness and sacrifice in having your families there in full force... the word 'admire' is quite insufficient actually.
Staff of CCS? Again, where would we be without you? I am so humbled and thankful.
Sleep well everyone, you deserve it a hundredfold!
Joanne Hordyk
p.s. Praise God from Whom ALL blessings flow!
